Biru is a cool little izakaya tucked downtown Montreal. It’s got a chill vibe and still offers good value for the price. That said, the decor and overall space are starting to feel dated, and the menu could use a bit of a refresh too. Still, if you’re looking for a casual spot with good bites and drinks, it’s worth a visit

Our first visit tothis restaurant, it was a great time. Our server Mike recommended the Sampler which consists of the chicken karage, salmon tarta, pork gyoza, fish with caramel, cold noodles topped with seaweed and to finish the pork ribs. All were super tasty and well presented. We also had the Yuzu beer absolutely delicious. Our server Mike is so pleasant and personable he made our meal very enjoyable. On our next visit to Montreal we will absolutely go again!

My partner and I came from USA to Montreal for the weekend simply to go to Biiru twice for our anniversary weekend. The staff were incredibly friendly, kind, and truly celebrated us! Complimentary shots and dessert and most of all super fun and friendly servers paired with delicious food! Thank you so much Alexia and sister Juliana for such a wonderful dining experience :)

Visited on a Friday night and was served by the incredible Jessica. Jessica paid great attention to details and went above and beyond to ensure that we got everything we needed. Even though the kitchen was a little backed up (which we didn’t even notice or mind at all) Jessica communicated with us highly professionally and offered alternative solutions to make sure we weren’t feeling left behind. Jessica surprised us with sake shots and a very delicious dessert at the end of the night, all making the dining experience at Biiru extra memorable and enjoyable. Wonderful menu with creative and delish Japanese fusion dishes and cocktails. The tapas style dishes allowed us to try many options. Highly recommend the Korn Korokke, a croquettes dish paired with delicious curry sauce, creating a great balance between texture and flavour. The atmosphere is comfortable and great for conversations. Love the interior design and decors.

our time there wasn’t long but it was great. my friend and I quickly stopped to grab a drink and eat something before going to show. we didn’t make a reservation (which I recommend!!) and as I got there, they didn’t have any place left (even tho it had only been opened for 30minutes. luckily, the waitress got a cancellation as I was about to walk out, she sat my friend and I by the bar. we were right by the entrance, but that wasn’t a problem at all. the place is small but the atmosphere makes it feel comfortable and not too crowded (even though it was). my friend got her food 10 minutes before me, which was kind of a bummer because she was almost done by the time I got mine (it was a plate of dumplings). we weren’t in a rush, we were having a great time, and I guess most people share their food, so maybe that’s why we didn’t everything all at once. the two dishes that we ordered were delicious. we also got some sake, recommended by the barmaid, which turned out to be a really good choice. it wasn’t too expensive as we didn’t eat much, but I’m sure that the menu is worth the price.

We found this restaurant recently even living Montreal so many years, and it is a nice place to share with friends. Food is tasty and service is great too. Not push you finish faster, with some drink, they delivered food slowly .. love this place and will come back soon!

My 10 year old wanted Ramen late at night, he got what he wanted. But we got a delightful surprise in all the other items we ordered. Salmon bonbons unagi skewers salmon tartar squid. The hosting and service was friendly and professional. I eat everywhere on the planet. This is a gem tucked away off st Catherine's in the heart of Montreal. Small but precious menu. Highly recommended. Chloe was our hostess. She is a star.

We’ve been looking for an Izakaya to go for a while Biiru was a great surprise! We made a reservation and we got the table at the terrace. The decoration is super nice, the staff are friendly and we had such a good time there! The dishes were delicious, specially the Okonomiyaki (10/10) and the Beef Tataki (10/10). We’ll definitely be coming back!
